You burst from within, squawking and frightened. The doctor lays you against me and skin kisses skin. Familiar sounds swaddle your being and you settle into my words of love.   

You know my voice. Your face turns toward my lullaby. You toddle after me. You separate my sounds from the noisy crowd, trailing like an obedient duckling.   

You follow me as I follow God.   

Together, we journey through this foreign land, seeking truth and seeking life. Listen for Him. Listen for the one who slipped into human skin to sing His lullaby. 

When this noisy world beckons, perceive His voice and go after Him — Truth and life will wrap you in love.   

Hold fast to Him — the one who never lets go. 

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
