I would give it all up…my last bite, my last sip, I would give you my last dollar.

I would give up my life.

I would give everything to ensure your happiness…But feeding a sense of entitlement will move you far from the one you need most.

You need to understand what you need and hold loose to desire.

Sometimes the answer will be no. Sometimes the blessing is the refusal.

You need to remember that I am the parent and you are the child. Decisions are made that you sometimes cannot understand.

Much like decisions God makes that we don’t understand. Sometimes He says no. Sometimes His blessing is the refusal.

He protects us from our selfish desires because more than our happiness, He wants us to learn our place as the created.

God is the Creator, we are the created. His ways are not our ways.

MATTHEW 6:26-27 – NIV

Look at the birds of the air;they do not sow or reapor store away in barns, and yetyour heavenly Fatherfeeds them.

Are younot much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worryingadd a single hour to your life?

This broken world is marred by sin.

This blemished heart is flawed. Despite giving my very best, I will, inevitably, fail you. The very best of me is crippled by heartbreaking, inexcusable sin.

Yet God works out my sanctification.

Every day, I can choose how to parent. Will I put off pride and put on humility? Will I put off impulse and put on patience? Will I put off irritation and put on love? Will I put off temper and put on self-control?

What if I planted seeds of grace, mercy and forgiveness? What if I watered what really needed to grow?

Maybe then, this imperfect mother won’t block your view of the Father. Maybe letting you see the pieces that make up this fractured heart will help you understand that perfection is only found in one person — God. And together we can look past my failures to one who never fails.

God is your perfect Father. Fix your eyes on Him.

Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.

PSALM 27:10 NLT
