It’s like a fairy-tale. You float down an aisle layered in white, received by your groom, on the glowing cusp of happily-ever-after. Love shines from your intended, a visual of how God sees you as part of Christ’s bride. Beautiful. Precious. Treasured. You know every day will be like this.
Until it isn’t.
Your spouse cannot meet the deepest longings of your soul. The love you are searching for is illustrated through wedded love, but found in Christ. Set your anchor in the unfailing love of Jesus and marital storms will not send you adrift.
There will be days of calling out to God for the needed strength to remain faithful to your vows. There will be days where love is a choice, not a feeling. And God will use those blustering seasons to sanctify and shape you as part of Christ’s bride—if you let Him.
Marriage is a soul-shaping adventure that reflects the unity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. It fulfills much more than a need for companionship. It illustrates God’s unbreakable covenant love with His people.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
