The farmer plants. Seed scatters on the path, feeding birds. Seed falls in rocky places and among the thorns. Seed falls in good soil. Some seeds root, but never birth like a lost child ripping at the heart of God. Yet, the farmer keeps farming.

The enemy devours what scatters. Scorching circumstances and unforgiveness can cause a hardened heart. Idolatrous thorns choke off breath.

One seed remains. One seed planted deeply roots a soft heart, and grows in good soil. Be the seed that grows. Be the seed that grows into a fruit-producing tree pruned by the gardener.

Painful experiences stretch limbs high toward the sun and send roots deep in search of water. Be the tree that lifts its arms high in dependence and worship.

Spread your roots deep into living water. Be the seed that flourishes, producing God-pleasing fruit by abiding in Him, in His good soil.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

JOHN 15:5 NIV
