Creation took six days. 144 hours. 8,640 minutes.
God prepared the earth for His children. When darkness cloaked the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God lingered over the face of the water, He spoke light. He spoke into the emptiness and separated morning from night. He commanded waters to flow only so far, and transformed an empty earth into richness. He filled the land, sea, and sky—declaring His creation as good.
He made man in His image, male and female. He blessed them, and gave the command to multiply. Days, months, and years go by, bringing us here, preparing for you.
Nine months. Forty weeks. 403,200 minutes.
We assemble crib pieces, colour parched walls, and dress naked windows. We stack stories high and fill empty drawers with eager longing and anxious anticipation.
We prepare for the laborious and joyous day when birth pains declare your imminent arrival and the miracle of new life is celebrated afresh. We declare it is good.
For this is what the LORD says – he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited – he says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.”
